Traditional histopathology of kidney transplant biopsies is subject to error because of sampling issues; non-specificity of some features and assignation of binary categories. Molecular assessment of kidney transplant biopsies, developed with a large biopsy set and machine learning, allows definition of both rejection and injury states based on assessment of nearly 50,000 gene transcripts.
